For the Dutch touring production of Love Story, Kelight was at the heart of the production, ensuring that Uri Rappaport’s beautiful lighting design shone just as brilliantly in each of the 50 theatres across the country. This classic love story required seamless lighting transitions from venue to venue, and our task was to make sure that every performance was as magical as the last, no matter the location.
The Challenge
With Love Story traveling to 50 different theatres, the lighting had to be flexible enough to be rebuilt in just a few hours, yet still deliver the same emotional impact. Each day, we faced new challenges—new spaces, different setups—but the goal remained the same: recreate the original lighting design in every venue, making sure it felt as though it was tailored to that specific space. Kelight was responsible for supervising all aspects of the lighting, from overseeing the lighting crew and managing load-ins/outs to re-lighting and rebuilding the design so it perfectly suited each theatre’s unique layout.
The Solution
Working closely with Stage Entertainment's team, Kelight ensured that every venue, from the largest stage to the most intimate theatre, had the same exceptional lighting quality. We took charge of re-lighting the setup for each performance, ensuring that the light captured the emotional depth of the story while adjusting it for the specifics of each space. Our team managed the load-in, load-out, and re-lighting process, making sure the transition from venue to venue was quick and efficient. We adapted the design in each new theatre to guarantee the lighting looked exactly as intended, so the audience always experienced the full magic of Love Story.
The Result
With 50 performances across the Netherlands, Love Story maintained its stunning visual appeal from the first show to the last. Thanks to Kelight’s supervision and attention to detail, audiences across the country enjoyed the same high-quality performance, night after night. This production was a testament to our commitment to keeping the lighting design true to its original vision while ensuring it fit each venue perfectly.
